NHS Yarns

October 4th - 15th, London and Colchester

Theatre Témoin are casting 6 actors to perform a collection of short plays which will be presented at The Mercury Theatre in Colchester, and filmed for future streaming.

NHS Yarns has been created by a leading team of playwrights in conversation with migrant and culturally diverse key workers in response to their front-line experience during the pandemic.

Dates: Contract runs between October 4th-15th 2021.  Rehearses October 4-11th in London (with each actor called 1-4 days, depending on their role), and then full cast is called 12th-15th in Colchester, with evening show on the 14th and filming on the 15th.   Travel and accommodation in Colchester is provided.  Auditions are the 27th and 29th September in London. 

Fee: £100 per day (£500-£800 total fee, depending on number of total days called).

Roles: Actors are multi-roling, so playing ages and exact backgrounds are to some extent flexible, but where possible we would prefer to cast authentically.

Actor 1 – Female, 50s-60s, First-Generation Migrant, Black African (ideally Nigerian).

Actor 2– Trans Female, 50s-60s but looks younger, First-Generation Migrant, Filipina.

Actor 3 - Female, 20s-30s, British-born, Black African Heritage (ideally Nigerian).

Actor 4 – Male, 30s-50s, First Generation Migrant, Black African (ideally Zimbabwean).

Actor 5 – Male, 30s-40s, British-born, South Asian, South East Asian, or East Asian.

Actor 6 – Female, 40s-70s, British Born, White.
